
Karol Miękina CONTEMPORARY | CREATIVE PROCESS
He studied at The National Academy of Theatre Arts in Krakow, at the Dance Theatre Department in Bytom. He was a former dancer of Polish Dance Theatre in Poznan and Baltic Dance Theatre – Baltic Opera in Gdansk. Currently he cooperates with Teatr Nowy Proxima in Krakow. Artistic director and choreographer of Carrodunum Dance Company. He appeared in the film “Chłopi” directed by Dorota Kobiela and in the movie “White courage” directed by Marcin Koszałka. He has performed in many dance and theater festivals in Poland and countries like Germany, Russia, Brazil, Norway, Serbia, Czech Republic and Belarus. He is a teacher of contemporary dance in High School No. 30 in Krakow in a dance and theater classes and a lecturer in The Krakow Academy, at the Acting Department.
He played and danced in performances created by artists such as: Ohad Naharin, Jo Strømgren, Caroline Finn, Joseph Alter, Jacek Łumiński, Ewa Wycichowska, Jan Peszek, Adolf Weltschek, Izadora Weiss, Cezary Tomaszewski, Janusz Skubaczkowski, Eryk Makohon, Maciej Kuźmiński, Antony McDonald, Ole Martin Meland, Barbara Bujakowska, Kaya Kołodziejczyk, Joanna Leśnierowska, Agata Moląg, Wojciech Terechowicz, Aleksander Kopański, Wojciech Kościelniak, Paulina Wycichowska, Piotr Skalski and Włodzimierz Nurkowski
As an actor and dancer, he cooperated with Julius Slowacki Theatre in Krakow, Grand Theatre National Opera in Warsaw, Groteska Theatre, Bagatela Theatre, Krakow Opera, Krakow Dance Theatre, Krakow Choreographic Centre, Hothaus Theatre in Krakow and Caro Dance Theatre in Siedlce.
In 2014, Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage awarded Karol with „Young Poland” scholarship prize and in 2022, he received Krakow city’s creative scholarship prize. In 2024, he was awarded a Creative Scholarship from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.
